Meet Carib Inn’s Crew
Bruce Bowker, unfortunately passed away May 9, 2020. He was from New Jersey USA, has been a PADI instructor since 1975. He was the first full time instructor on Bonaire in 1973 as a YMCA instructor! He opened Carib Inn as a hotel and dive operation in 1980. His favorite course to teach is Peak Performance Buoyancy. His special diving interests are equipment repair and keeping Carib Inn’s well-stocked retail store up-to-date.
Rishi Anthony, born on Bonaire, has been with Bruce since 1987 and is in charge of tank fills and boat loading as well as keeping the Carib Inn grounds looking great. Bonaire is very proud of Rishi, one of the island’s best musicians.
Kitty Handschuh, has since retired as of December 31, 2020. We thank you for your service! Kitty is from Maryland USA, has been a PADI instructor since 1987. She is certified as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer. She has been working for Carib Inn since 1987. Her favorite course to teach is Underwater Naturalist. Her special diving interest is observing and learning about interaction on the reef and sharing that with other divers.
Linda Baker, from Canada, has been a PADI instructor since 1988. She is certified as a Master Instructor. She started working at Carib inn in 1990. Her favorite course to teach is Fish ID. About her special diving interests, Linda says, “I just love diving.” She enjoys shore diving the East coast and other areas that cannot be done by boat; introducing people to night diving; finding rare fish and critters; leading groups of divers.
Edward Thomas started in 1990 and is the Carib Inn’s happiest face. Although deaf, Edward dives and pretty much knows more about what is going on than anyone else. He also fills tanks and makes sure the boats are ready to go.
Arturo Barrios is in charge of all maintenance. He also assists in tank fills and boats. Arturo is from Colombia and although he speaks only Spanish and Papiamento, he gets his points across and likes to play jokes.
Emmy Cicilia works in our housekeeping department. She keeps things in order and makes sure rooms are ready. We have not been able to talk her into diving yet.
Lynn Cicilia is head of housekeeping and does an excellent job keeping the rooms clean and tidy. She has a lovely young son and daughter.
Netty Cicilia is part of our housekeeping staff. She is also the sister of Lynn and Emmy.
Kristi Malsam, from Colorado USA, joined the Carib Inn staff November 2016. Kristi has been a PADI Instructor since 2013 and she is certified as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer. She enjoys teaching and the challenge of working with divers at all levels of experience. Diving gives her the opportunity to not only share her love of the ocean; but, to share her concerns in protecting and respecting its resources.
