Bonaire has an area of 112 sq. miles – 24 miles long. And is 3 to 7 miles wide. Based on current mapping approximately half the island is half of the island is inhabited by +/- 21.000 people.
The local language on the island is Papiamentu. Papiamentu has a lot of Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch influences. The official language is Dutch. Many of the residents also speak Spanish and English.
